STILL DYING FOR ACCESS in Alberta!
In Alberta people are DYING FOR ACCESS to harm reduction, safer supply and evidence based treatment.
In February of 2022, Moms Stop The Harm and Albertans for Evidence-Based Drug Policy joined in solidarity with people who use drugs in rallies and vigils held in Edmonton, Calgary and Lethbridge for the many lives lost to drug poisoning deaths. Nothing has been done since that time and in fact the Alberta government has made matters incrementally worse and the deaths continue to ravage communities and Albertan families.
We will once again be meeting in Edmonton at the
Alberta Legislature (front steps) as the fall sitting
(postponed from October 2022) resumes on
Tuesday, November 29th at 12:00PM (NOON)
To address the ongoing crisis, we call on the Government of Alberta to:
Expand supervised consumption services and reopen closed sites
Provide access to safe regulated substances to replace toxic street drugs
Offer rapid, barrier-free access to medical detox and evidence-based treatment.
Please bring a large-sized photo of your loved one along with other signs and noise makers. Bring friends and family.
We have to let the Alberta government know that we are not going to stand quietly aside any longer! See some examples of signage below:
