Support the Drug User Liberation Front (DULF)
It is with disappointment and frustration that the Board of Directors writes to you today.
On May 31st, 2024, two co-founders of the Drug User Liberation Front (DULF), Eris Nyx and Jeremy Kalicum, were each charged with three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
This act of criminalization does nothing to abate the unregulated drug poisoning emergency. Instead, it puts former compassion club members at significant risk of death and it risks losing the valuable progress made by DULF in innovating models for safe supply.
Since its inception, Moms Stop The Harm has been a staunch supporter of DULF and their co-founders. DULF’s efforts align with the key position statements released in 2024. As stated by Moms Stop the Harm co-founder, Leslie McBain "We know that the government should be doing this, but we're so far away from that and DULF had the courage, the compassion and really the love to go ahead and do it".
These charges represent a significant threat of prison time for Eris and Jeremy, who innovated and assumed risk to keep their communities and loved ones safe. They acted out of dire necessity in the face of B.C.’s now eight-year-long public health emergency. We must stand in solidarity with DULF in their time of need.
Please consider donating to DULF’s legal defense here. If you are unable to at this time, please consider following DULF on social media and sharing their request for aid. We will continue to assess avenues for Moms Stop the Harm to support Jeremy and Eris, and we welcome suggestions from our members.
With gratitude,
MSTH Board of Directors
